NSC boss, Dikko hosts NFF board, says “If football is succeeding, all other sports will key in.”
National Sports Commission Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko today (Monday) hosted members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee led by President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau on a working visit.
The Committee came to brief the Chairman on preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony for the NFF-FIFA Players Hotel and training pitches slated for Tuesday March 18, 2025 at the MKO Abiola Stadium as well as to compare notes on the preparations for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda in Kigali on Friday March 21, 2025 and Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday March 25, 2025, among other critical issues.
At the meeting, Mallam Dikko reiterated the importance of a conducive atmosphere so as to facilitate the development of football in the country pointing out that football was key to the sports economy mandate given to the Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. In his words, “If football is succeeding, all other sports will key in.”
Alhaji Gusau had earlier pledged NFF’s support for the NSC Chairman and his team in their bid to actualise the President’s mandate. He seized the opportunity to, once again, appreciate the chairman, on behalf of the entire NFF Executive Committee, for the Commission’s support to NFF, in particular, and the ongoing reforms in the sporting sector.
The NFF delegation comprised, Alhaji Gusau, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye (2nd Vice-President), Yusuf Ahmed ‘Fresh’ (Chairman of chairmen), Shariff Rabiu Inuwa (member), Babagana Kali (member), Margaret Icheen (member), Otumba Dele Ajayi (member), Abdulganiyu Majekodunmi (member), Rt. Hon. Nse Essien (member), Timothy Heman (member), George Aluo (member).
