Olopade Commends Toptier Sports Management, NNL Leadership for Boosting Visibility and Professionalism in the League
The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has applauded the growing investment and professional input being brought into the Nigeria National League (NNL), by Toptier Sports Management, describing the initiative as a significant step toward improving the structure, quality, and visibility of the league.
Hon. Olopade made the remarks after watching an NNL game between Abeokuta Stormers and Solution FC on Sunday, noting that the match provided an opportunity for him to witness first-hand the positive changes currently taking place within the league.
The NSC DG praised the CEO of Toptier Sports Management, Chichi Nwoko, for the organization’s commitment to investing in the league and introducing modern sports management practices, aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s second-tier football competition.
“I must first commend Toptier Sports Management and its founder, Chichi Nwoko, for bringing fresh ideas, professionalism, and investment into the Nigeria National League.
“When organizations with strong expertise in sports management come into our domestic leagues, it helps improve standards and creates new opportunities for players, clubs, and the league as a whole.”
Hon. Olopade noted that investments of this nature are critical for the sustainable growth of Nigerian football, particularly in areas such as league branding, broadcast visibility, fan engagement, and professional administration.
“Improving the visibility of the league is extremely important. With better management structures and increased private sector involvement, the quality of the competition will continue to grow and more Nigerians will begin to follow the league with renewed interest.”
He also commended the leadership of the NNL Chairman, George Aluo, for working closely with stakeholders to reposition the league and strengthen its operations.
“George Aluo and his team have shown strong leadership and commitment in ensuring that the Nigeria National League continues to evolve.
The collaboration between the league leadership and professional sports management organizations like Toptier will only accelerate the progress we are beginning to see.”
The Nigeria National League serves as the country’s second-tier football competition and plays a vital role in the development of players and clubs aiming to reach the elite level of Nigerian football.
The DG reiterated that the National Sports Commission will continue to support initiatives that promote professionalism, private sector investment, and improved governance across Nigeria’s sporting landscape.
