Prof. Moronfolu Lauds Daddy G.O’s 2026 Cup Winners
..Commends Redeemed Dove FC for their sportsmanship behaviour
President of the Nigeria Society for Sports Management (NSSM ), Professor Raimi Abiodun Moronfolu, has commended all the teams that participated at the just concluded Redeemed Church of God General Overseer’s 84th birthday football tournament that ended on Friday 13 March 2026 at the Redeemed Camp ground, Mowe, Ogun State Nigeria for their Godly behaviour and sportsmanship throughout the duration of the two weeklong championship that lasted from 3-13 March, 2026.
In his speech before the kick-off of the grand finale, Prof. Moronfolu re-affirmed that the Daddy G.O’s birthday football competition was not only free and fair but devoid of rancour, quarrel, acrimony, fighting, biased officiating and pre-tournament determination on who emerges winner at the end of the exercise which is the Hallmark of some competitions.
A good case at hand being the final game where the host team Redeemed( Dove FC) lost 2-4 on penalties to the visitors Anglican Diocese of Ibadan after a 1-1 full time scoreline. Prof. Moronfolu who is also the Director of Sports appealed to all coordinators of sports across the country to borrow a leaf from what happened at the just concluded Daddy G.O’s Football Competion to know how to organize and manage competitions at any given time to avoid crisis.
As the Director of Sports, Prof. Raimi Abiodun Moronfolu gave kudos to the host team, Dove FC for their maturity and exceptional behaviour after loosing game.
“That is the sportsmanship qualities we are preaching about” he said.
When asked about the celebrant, Daddy G.O-
Pas E.A Adeboye, Prof. Moronfolu paused a while and said ” Daddy G.O is too much.
He is a God sent Visionary leader.
His physical presence here with us today speaks it all. He is humility personified.
May the Good God continue to keep him for us in Jesus Mighty name”he concluded.
Meanwhile, four teams took part in the two week long football championship that lasted from 3-13 March, 2026.
They include, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, The Apostolic Church, Foursquare Gospel Church and the Anglican Diocese Ibadan that emerged champions after defeating the Redeemed (Dove FC) 4-2 on penalties in the final.
Favour Agi ( Apostolic Church of Nigeria) emerged as the best player while Adeniyi Joshua ( Anglican Diocese Ibadan) won the best goalkeeper Award.
The highest goal Scorer award went to Ayodele Pamilerin ( Anglican Diocese of Ibadan while the Foursquare Gospel Church went home with the Fair Play Award.
The championship was held in a round robin format
