Dr Emeka Okeke, a global health leader set to be crowned Ikemba of Anaocha

Traditional rulers in Anaocha, a local government area in Anambra State has concluded plans to confer on a worthy son of the soil, Dr. Emeka Franklin Okeke the Chieftaincy title of IKEMBA DI UGWU (The revered strength of the Town).

This is giving honour to whom honour is due. Dr Okeke, a selfless lover of his people, community and beyond has continued to cater for the needs of many across the length and breath of the many Towns that make up Anaocha LGA as well as the State at large.
After graduating from the prestigious University of California, San Diego he established the Rise Global Health Initiative, California which in time made him a global health leader.
When he returned home he opened the Rise Clinic in his home town Adazi Ani and wasted no time in using the Clinic to touch the lives of helpless widows, indigent students and those suffering the cruel fate of epilepsy.
His Nigeria Epilepsy Care Advancement Programme (NECAP) in 2013 had 240 epilepsy patients enrolled into a free 12-Month medical care and support.
The amiable young man over the years has invested millions of dollars in health care in Anambra State and willing to spend more.
He has also invested in Cultural tourism sponsoring the Oji-Ofor festival, a cultural carnival focused on promoting the cultural diversity of local communities in Anambra State in 2017.
In 2020, he launched ‘Aspire FC Egwu Ogene Contest’, a contest designed to promote the Igbo culture through the traditional metal gong Ogene Music where over fifty Ogene groups contested and benefited.
Dr Okeke has continued to sponsor the annual Adazi Fest Musical concert that brings A-list artistes from across Nigeria to Adazi Ani every December all for his people to have maximum fun during the yuletide.
Using Sports, he founded the Aspire football Club Adazi Ani in 2018 and just Months after the team won the Anambra State FA Cup beating top teams like FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Udala FC and went on to represent the State at National Aiteo Federation Cup.
A year later Aspire gained promotion to the third tier league of Nigeria, the Nationwide league one.
In 2020 the Nigeria football Federation (NFF) called on Dr Okeke to head the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) Caretaker Committee, the Committee was saddled with responsibility of re-positioning the game which was really troubled in the State as a result of poor administration by subsequent boards.
Inless than two Months as the Caretaker Chairman he had some ground breaking achievements that all the previous Chairmen of the State FA could not achieve in two decades.
His achievements were hailed by all genuine lovers of the round leather game in the State and beyond.
He later resigned from the post and was urged by well meaning football lovers in the State to return as there is none who could match his passion and willingness to commit personal funds for the development of the game in the State.
He went on to sponsor the first of its kind ‘My Anambra Football’ Super 8 Tournament where the winner received huge cash prize as well as a Nationwide League division two slot.
Dr Okeke, a cerebral young man full of ideas, energy, passion and zeal to rewrite the history of Football in Anambra State has continued to spend his hard earned money to development all aspects of the games in the State.
Health Insurance for players and club owners, free health checks as well as Covid-19 tests for players, Coaches training, refurbishment of facilities and sponsoring Foreign trips for exceptional talents discovered from scouting programmes he organized.
In 2018 he was honored by his alma matar, the University of California San Diego with the UC San Diego Triton 40 Under 40 award during their 40th Annual Alumni celebrations.
His Coronation comes up on September 18 at the Anaocha Local Government Area Headquarters in Neni.
At just 39 years of age the achievements of Dr Emeka Okeke are legendary, little wonder the noble traditional rulers of Anaocha see him as the revered Strength of their Towns.
