Nasarawa State Gov’s Cup final: NFF boss hails Sule over unflinching support for football

President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has given a pat on the back to Nasarawa State Governor, Engr Abdullahi Sule for his unflinching support for football both at the grassroots and national levels.

Gusau spoke on Monday during the final of the Nasarawa State Governor’s Cup final at the Lafia City Stadium.

The NFF boss noted that Engr Sule has who he described as a very good friend has continued to identify and support the game of football at all levels.

“We are here today (Monday) watching the final of a grassroots football competition (Governor’s Cup final) which he is bankrolling. The governor is catching them young with a competition like this. Nasarawa is the only state in the north with a male and women’s team competing and doing well at the national level. Sule is a governor that has supported the football federation whenever we call on him,” Gusau stated.

Gusau who was in Lafia with some other members of the NFF executive committee that included 2nd Vice President Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye, Alhaji Baba Gana Kalli, NNL Chairman George Aluo and NLO Chairman His Excellency Silas Agara, presented the Governor’s Cup trophy to the captain of Karu Local Government, winners of the competition.

It would be noted that Karu defeated Wamba LGA by 3-0 in a thrilling final match that was watched by a fairly large crowd.
