Remo Stars crash out of CAF Champions League

One of Nigeria’s representatives in this year’s CAF Champions League, Remo Stars Sunday night crashed out of the competition following a 0-2 loss to AS Far of Morocco in Rabat.

The Nigerians went into the return leg with a slim 2-1 victory from the first leg in Ikenne last week but could not contain the Moroccan Army team who scaled through on a 3-2 aggregate.

Remo Stars started the game on a defensive note and hardly had a shot at goal throughout the first half which ended goalless.

However, they were not lucky in the second half as Joel Beya, the Congolese import who scored AS FAR’s lone goal in Ikenne last Sunday struck again to hunt Remo Stars in the 53rd minute when he connected a lob.

Their problem was compounded following a penalty awarded in the 80th minutes to the hosts by the Beniniois referee which was converted by Amine Zouhzouh ensuring that the Moroccans progress to the next stage of the money spinning championship
