...As NFF makes job pledge

By George Aluo

More succor is coming the way of ex international, Kingsley Obiekwu aka Shagari who is said to be in financial quagmire out there in Enugu, South East, Nigeria.

Newstap.com.ng can today confirm that the nation’s soccer governing body, NFF has pledged to offer him a job following the intervention of the All Nigeria Football Players Union (ANFPU).

This is coming few days after Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa doled out two million naira to the former Eagles defender who has since taken to “Ochoo passenger”…touting job at a popular motor park in Enugu.

ANFPU’s BOT chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi told Newstap.com.ng that NFF boss Amaju Melvin Pinnick has directed Obiekwu to come over to Abuja for the NFF job.

“I want to thank Amaju for this gesture. Amaju has shown that he cares for ex internationals with the way he came out before now to help the likes of Opabunmi, Wilson Oruma and several others. I am happy Obiekwu who was my team mate at Udoji United would enjoy a new lease of life. Obiekwu who we popularly call Shagari is a good guy and he is like a brother to me. This is one of the basic reasons we formed the new players union. The welfare of our members is top priority,” Iloenyosi said.
