2026 NDG: Akwa Ibom’s Princewill eyes more boxing victories

60 kg male boxer from Akwa Ibom State, Princewill Itoro Effong says nothing short of the gold medal will satisfy him at the ongoing 2nd Niger Delta Games.

He made the declaration, shortly after out pointing his opponent from Ondo State in their preliminary fight decided Saturday.

Princewill dominated the three rounds contest, often putting his taller and bigger opponent at the receiving end.

The sharper Princewill was declared winner by unanimous decision of all the judges.

Speaking after the fight Princewill said he never doubted his chances against Emmanuel, who is featuring in his first major boxing fight.

“I knew I was going to beat him and I kept the pressure on him right from the start of the fight to the final round”, began the boxer who is known for his hard punches and good footwork

“I’m excited winning the fight. It’s just the begining but I’m focused on getting to as far as the final, positively winning the gold medal.

On what to expect from him as the tournament progresses, he stated that he’s well prepared to face any opponent in his weight category just as he sounded a note of warning to them to beware of meeting him in the ring, as none of them is capable of stopping his rising boxing profile.
