Nigeria to host African pro- wrestling championship

..As organisers commend GWF for supporting pro-wrestling development in Africa.

Pro Wrestling Africa the apex body seeing to the growth and advancement of professional wrestling in Africa, a continent blessed with wrestling super talents in collaboration with Florida, United States based Golden Wrestling Federacy and the African Wrestling Organization (AWO) is set to host the ‘End of the Year Wrestling Extravaganza’ in Lagos.
The three organizations came together in an effort to entertain the teeming pro- wrestling fans in Nigeria and neighbouring countries who would be gathering at the end of the year championship.
According to the organisers, before now, organizations in Nigeria have been holding championships in isolation and for the three groups to have come together shows that something unique is in the offering this time.
The Florida, USA based Golden Wrestling Federacy would be represented at the championship by it’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Olusesan Olukoya who also doubles as Secretary General of Pro- Wrestling Africa (PWA).
The marriage of the three groups is to take the sport to the next level in this part of the world and it’s expected that executives of the newly inaugurated wrestling associations of Benin Republic and Togo will be on ground to witness the timely championship.
Speaking on the championship, the Chief Executive Officer of Golden Wrestling Federacy, Dr. Jimmy McDowell known as ‘Golden Boy’ in wrestling circles noted that he’s encouraged by the rapid development of the mats man game in Africa, promising that his organisation will continue to help talented fighters achieve their full potentials in the sports
‘’We at the Golden Wrestling Federacy (GWF) are encouraged by the rapid development of professional wrestling in Africa and we’ll continue to be an influencer of your best of best athletes becoming professional wrestlers. “Indeed, Africa is in my heart and soul and I feel a deep connection to all I have befriended here.
“GWF is sincere with all our plans of supporting African wrestling and we’re excited about that.
“And for our continuous friendship, may many blessings fall on all who are involved’’ emphasized the ‘Golden Boy’ in a message he sent to the planning committee of the Xmas Eve wrestling Championship.
Meanwhile, the organisers have confirmed that wrestlers from Congo DR and Zimbabwe are expected to feature in the timely championship. USA Bing from Congo DR would be competing with Nigerian Mr. Sharpman for the PWA Light heavyweight title while Stability De Man of Zimbabwe would be competing with Major Ariba in an elimination match and if Stability wins, that would afford him opportunity to compete for the PWA Cruiserweight title in Zimbabwe against a South African in March 2024.
Other wrestlers that would be competing for glory during the championship are Godskid, Black Heritage, 6.5, Eagle De Great Nail, De Hardman, Jimmy Palm Junior, Rodrick Fred, Alexandra De Queen and De Blaze.
The championship will hold at the Wrestling Arena of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday 24th December, 2023 from 4:00pm.
“Wrestling fans are expected from all over the country to attend this free for all event as there will be no gate fees as this is our Christmas gift to the fans from all the nooks and crannies of the country”, noted Olusesan Olukoya, Chief Operating Officer of Golden Wrestling Federacy/ General Secretary of PWA
