As the 2023 Ardova Handball League is gradually coming to an end, President of Nigeria Handball Federation, Sam Ocheho says he’s excited with the quality of play exhibited by the various teams just as he commended the sponsor for being there for the Federation.
He told newstap.com.ng that in the last six years, there has been handball championships happening all over the country and the National team better across board noting that the tempo would be sustained.
” The on going league has been great, exciting, full of thrills and feels. We have seen young talents coming up; some senior players show why they’re refered to as Senior players and we have equally seen some players showcase their talents and I can beat my chest to say that the league lived up to expectation.
He challenged other corporate organisations to emulate what Ardova is doing and invest in the game.
“My appeal is that corporate organisations should adopt handball as a sports they’ll sponsor if they want visibility, accountability and transparency which the game is noted for.
On the further development of the game at the grassroots, he was emphatic that the game is well represented at the grassroots but was quick to add that they’ll continue to focus on under aged championships where new talents would be discovered and nurtured to stardom
” I’m sure you’re aware that handball one of the few sports that have U-12, U-15, U-18, U-21 and the senior team. So we’re well represented at the grassroots level.
” You’ll also discover that in our various states, we have a lot of school activities that’s going on and I think that’s the only way we will be able to develop talents and we’ll continue to focus on under aged championships”,he concluded.
