Family, footballers plan descent burial for late Coach Izilien
Top past and present Nigerian footballers would Friday honour late veteran Coach, Godwin Ihijegbe Izilien with a valedictory football match at the Samuel Ogbemudia, Stadium, Benin City.
Late Super Eagles stars, Edema Fuludu, Augustin Eguavoen, Bright Omokaro, Austin Popo alongside Steven Cole, Joseph Cole, Tony Emedofun amongst others are among footballers ready to give their last respect to the ex- Super Falcons Chief Coach that died at the age of 81.
Body of the late Izilien would be brought from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital for the lying-in- state ceremony at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City after the vigil mass held Thursday at the Holy Sprit Catholic Church, Benin City, Thursday evening.
The remains of the late coach Godwin Izilien from Usenu Irrua in Esan Central Local Government of Edo State would be buried at the family compound in No. 10 Efehi Street off Okhoro Road, Benin City after the funeral mass at the Holy Spirit Catholic church.
Naval Officer son of the late coach Owens Izilien, who described the veteran coach as a strict disciplinarian and great value adder confirmed that there would be live streaming of the event before Saturday’s outing service at former Edo State Event Centre, 115 Marquee Hotel on Okada Avenue, GRA, Benin City.
While thanking stakeholders for all the corporation so far, he said thanksgiving service will take place Sunday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
