The central sociocultural organization of the host communities of Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, SMICA, in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State, Onyeaghalanwanneya Communities Assembly, OCA, has elected and inaugurated its new officers with Chief Sir, Fidelis C. Opara as the National President.
The new officers were elected and formally inaugurated during the monthly general meeting of the group for the month of May, 2024, held Saturday at the Ngali country-home of High Chief Damian Opara, Ohazurumee of Logara Autonomous Community.
The peaceful exercise also witnessed the emergence of the host, Chief Opara as the National Vice President, Comrade Athan Agbakwuru, National Secretary; Mr Stephen Chukwuma, Assistant National Secretary; Ichie Cosmos Onwukwe, Treasurer, Chief Raymond Agor, Financial Secretary and Mr Chima Ojimanu as National Provost.
Also, Comrade Agbakwuru was unanimously endorsed to double as the National Publicity Secretary of OCA while the position of the National Legal Adviser was left open to be filled in due course.
In his post election/acceptance speech, the new National President, Sir F.C. Opara thanked members of the organization for finding the new team worthy to serve and assured that they will not betray the trust reposed in them.
Opara who also applauded the interim committee that midwived the election and the immediate past executive led by Sir Anthony A. Nosike and Nze Obi Afulezi for driving OCA this far maintained that the organization will grow in leaps and bounds under the new leadership.
He solicited the cooperation, commitment and loyalty of all members to enable the new crop of leaders succeed in their vision to reposition OCA, the component communities and Onyeaghalanwanneya Court Area as a whole.
Earlier, Sir Anthony Nosike and Sir Celestine Iyeh while inaugurating the new officers charged them to be diligent, transparent and fair-minded in handling affairs of the group as well as place priority on membership drive.
Apart from the election of new officers, other high points of the weekend meeting was the presentation of the assembly’s financial report by the immediate past administration and admission of new members who fulfilled their registration obligations at the session.
