Hoops N’ Read basketball club gears up for abridged NBBF Premier League
..As Head Coach, Mensah eyes podium finish

South West Basketball League showdown championship winners, Hoops N’ Read basketball club have commenced final preparations for the Nigeria Basketball Federation, (NBBF), Premier League.
Following their successful outing in Ibadan, Oyo State, winning the championship undefeated, the outstanding Hoops N’ Read are heading to the ancient and historic city of Benin, the Edo State capital.
Hoops N’ Read basketball club that represented Lagos State in Ibadan for the South West League showdown, are aiming at a top place finish in the Premier League.
Head Coach of Hoops N’ Read, Dossou Victor Mensah, in an interview with our correspondent stated that he and his team are more than ready.
Coach Mensah added that his team will draw lessons from the South West League, to improve the teams play providing a good shot at glory.
“We trained and prepared hard for the tournament, speaking at length with the players, studying their play carefully and jotting down areas where we could do better and I am more than happy that our efforts paid off,” he expressed.
Coach Mensah emphasized that with the high level of training and preparation they are certain of nothing less than a podium finish.
Coach Mensah’s side will be slamming and dunking, to add a sixth trophy to their rich and impressive collection of trophies and medals.
“For the abridged NBBF Premier League our target is podium finish, and for us to achieve that, we take it game by game, coupled with efforts of the players, training hard daily to win the League,” he stressed.
Coach Mensah strongly views every other team in Benin City as a threat to Hoops N’ Read basketball club winning their sixth diadem this year and will not in any way belittle any team that shows its face.
“All teams are competitors, we are not looking down on any team or disrespect any team, taking it game by game, no team will be able to pose a threat to our goal,” he said.
The head coach also had some nice words for FIBA Ambassador and Former D’Tigers captain, CEO Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation Mr. Olumide Oyedeji, owner of the Hoops N’ Read basketball club.
He heaped praises on Mr. Oyedeji for his unwavering support for the Team financially, emotionally and mentally.
The President, Nigeria Olympian Association, was the brain and sponsor behind the South West Basketball League showdown finals, this coach Mensah strongly believes will help to grow the slamming and dunking game in the country.
The coach hailed Oyedeji for his efforts towards basketball in the country and beyond, urging him to keep up the good work.
