Man stripe naked in Anambra, confesses to the killing of businessman, women and children

Pandemonium erupted in Awka-Eti­ti, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Saturday February 22, 2025, when a businessman aged about 35 years ran mad at the town’s market square known as Eke Awka Etiti and started making confessions in front of his shop

According to an eye witness account, the man, identified as Fri­day, a native of Ogunzelu, village, Aw­ka-Etiti, started behaving strangely on Saturday morn­ing and removed his clothes to the surprise of his neighbours and other traders who were arriving the market for business before he started his open confession.

While confessing, he said he was responsible for the death of a popular trader in the mar­ket identified as Samson Ileka, a pharmacist and owner of Sam Medical and Pro­vision Store, behind his shop who, according to sources, died Thursday night and was buried Friday in his hometown, Ichi­da, in Anaocha Local Govern­ment Area of Anambra State.

Friday was also allegedly­ to have confessed that he had sent many children, women and other businessmen in Aw­ka-Etiti and other parts of the state to their early graves.

The confession was said to have ignited furious reactions from irate traders, parents of victims and onlookers who stormed the market place to lynch the suspect.

The quick intervention of the police and other security operatives who arrived at the scene saved Friday as he was taken to the town hall before being whisked away to the Po­lice Headquarters in Awka, the state capital.

the front of his shop was littered with the carcass of a bird be­lieved to be remains of a chick­en he has used to cleanse his body when nemesis visited him among other things.
The late Ileka’s shop was also seen shut while onlookers and trad­ers stood in groups discussing the issue
