NNL: Kun Khalifat maintain lead with home win

Owerri based Kun Khalifat started the NNL second stanza today (Tuesday) on a brilliant note winning 3-1 at home at the Dan Anyiam Stadium against Madiba FC of Lagos.

The Conference B leaders scored two first half goals to signal their intention to carry the day and amass the maximum points they need to consolidate their position at the top.

Kun Khalifat now leads the Conference B table with 28 points after 11 matches while second placed Osun United are on 23 points.

Osun United it would be noted had at the weekend settled for a 1-1 draw in their away game against Solution FC of Awka who are third on the log with 18 points.

In the other conferences, Warri Wolves maintained their top position in Conference A with a 1-0 home win against Inter Lagos while Wikki Tourists held on to the top spot in Conference C after playing out a goalless draw against Sokoto United. Basira FC of Lafia recorded a 3-1 victory over Kada Stars of Kaduna to remain on top of Conference D with 13 points.

Basira’s lead is however not a comfortable one as second placed Doma also have 13 points while third placed Yobe Desert Stars are not far from the top with 11 points.

It would be noted that the NNL second stanza started last weekend after a three-week break.
