The 2024/2025 season of Nigeria football is gradually reaching its crescendo and with pace feverish, and of course, emotions on its heights. 

There are three matches left to be played in 2024/2025 season of the NPFL and already, a champion has emerged in Remo Stars who claimed the title last Sunday in Ikenne. The battle to finish high and get continental slots is on and expectedly, could go down to the wires.

And there is the quater-finals matches of the President Federation Cup coming up this weekend in different centres across Nigeria. A continental ticket equally awaits the winner of the prestigious championship. 

In view of the emotions and shenanigans that trails such close to the season games, some concerned Nigerians under the aegis of Friends Of Nigeria Sports  (FNS), have released a statement charging the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation to to put on their best sporting acts hinged on providing a level playing field for all teams at this period. 

The National Coordinator of FNS, Chief Diprieye Thompson, commended the NFF, NPFL and GTI/TNFF, for what he present season which he described as impressive.

“The NFF started this season quite well. And we would advise that they end it well. It is very important that they take as sacrosanct the integrity and sanity of the Nigerian football, because their actions and inactions during the end of the season games would define the performances of the football administrators,” remarked. 

He admonished the NFF to monitor the games objectively, as only genuinely qualified teams would give Nigeria, a good representation on the continental stage. 

“At Friends of Nigeria Sports, we shall mobilise and deploy some of our members to some of the centres hosting the Federation Cup, as well as, the venues of the remaining NPFL matches, in order to ensure that match officials put in their best performances.

“We are a genuinely concerned group of sports enthusiasts, who want the best for Nigerian sports. Muchmore, we’re equally concerned about ensuring that interests of private club owners and investors are protected for the benefits of the game in Nigeria,” Thompson added.
