IMC : Ikpea Wants All Supporters Club Back To Their Root

As attempt to reconcile the various Supporters Club continue to receive comments from different quarters, National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Ambassador Rev. Samuel Ikpea has picked hole on the entire arrangement, insisting that true reconcilation will only be achieved when all the various factions are made to go back to their original root.
He told newstap com ng that while he’s in support of having one United Supporters Club, it is equally wrong for undue recognition to be given to some persons who set up a club for their selfish interest.
“The setting up of a reconcilation committee is a noble idea but I want both the Chairman of National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko and the Director General, Bukola Olopade to go beyond setting up an interim management committee and ensure the right things are done.
” I want to advise that the best thing to do is to tell all the supporters to go back to their root. It’s wrong for somebody to just wakeup and claim he has a Supporters Club and go ahead and register it with Corporate Affairs Commission and then it becomes compulsory that his group must be recognized by the NFF and NSC
” The relevant authorities must do proper investigation to know whether they have a functional Secretariat and members or they’re doing it for their selfish interest or for the interest of the nation. In doing this they must put sentiments apart and call a spade a spade”, he stressed.
Ikpea further explained that in Ghana, there was a time they had about 50 Supporters Club with Nigeria playing a prominent role in reconciling them.
” What is happening in Nigeria is a shame. Look at Ghana that came here in their numbers to sympathize with us over the death of a Nigerian boxer in Ghana whose corpse arrived here Tuesday evening. They were here as a one United body
“It will interest you to know that in Ghana, they once have about 50 Supporters Club and we in Nigeria played a prominent role in bringing them together under one roof; with all the splinter groups going back to their root and that’s what we want to happen here”, he concluded.
