WAFU B Women Tourney: Bayelsa Queens deserve commendation- Bayelsa House Committee Chairman on Sports

Despite the inability of Bayelsa Queens to win the just concluded WAFU B Women tournament that would have ensured their qualification for the CAF Women Champions League, Chairman of Bayelsa State House of Assembly Committee on Sports and Youth Development, Hon. (Bar.) Tare Porri, said the Prosperity girls deserve commendation for emerging runners- up in the competition.
Bayelsa Queens lost by 9-10 penalties to eventual champions Asec Mimosas after their game ended 1-1 at regulation time and Porri believes that mother luck was against the team who dominated play but lost many glaring chances that would have enabled them emerge victorious in the competition.
“I want to say that the Prosperity girls deserve commendation for emerging runners- up in the competition, Although I would have loved them to lift the trophy for a second time after doing so in 2022 and qualify for the Champions League but mother luck was against them.
“They dominated the game but were unfortunate to lose the finals through the spot kick and as such I want Nigerians to appreciate what they did in Côte d’Ivoire,” he stated.
The member representing Ekeremor Constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly noted that not minding the loss, the state government will continue to support the team to win laurels for the country.
“I want to tell you that not minding the temporary setback, the state government under His Excellency, Douye Diri will continue to support the team in their quest to make the state and country proud. We as law makers will also not fail in our duties to.ensure that sports and youth development take it’s rightful place in Bayelsa State,” he assured.
