Bishop Olumakaiye backs Amb. Sunny Irakpo’s youth leadership program

The Diocesan Bishop of Lagos and Missioner Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev’d Dr. Humphrey Bamisebi Olumakaiye, has commended Amb. Sunny Irakpo, Founder/President Silec Initiatives for his commitment towards empowering youths for national and international leadership.

 He stated this recently, during the official presentation of the Partnership of the Leadership Exchange Program secured by Silec Initiatives with WorldChicago, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America(USA).

 During the visit at the  Diocese of Lagos Headquarters, the Cathedral House Marina,Lagos, the Diocesan formally declared his acceptance, as the patron for the initiative.

The endorsement was contained in a letter signed by  the Bishop’s Administrative Assistant, Ven. David Adebayo.

The letter reads: ‘Silec Initiatives is a good initiative timely and necessary in addressing the social vices (Drug Abuse) challenges confronting the society especially the youths.’

‘This is based on the  undeniably potent , effective  leadership skills, goal-getting antecedence, strong advocacy, outstanding nature, passion and zeal on youth enlightenment, development and empowerment drive of the founder.’

‘The impact of the initiatives has been truly felt at the grassroots and communities through campaigns, rallies, entertainment and seminars against social vices, drug abuse since 2010 in Nigeria.’

‘We are optimistic that if giving more support through this initiatives many youths shall have access to better and  a promising future.

 ‘We are proud to associate with and recommend the Silec Initiatives vision primarily to save the lives of young people from total destruction.’

SILEC Initiatives is championed by a vibrant young man, Irakpo, an  alumnus of the prestigious United States ( US)-sponsored International Visitor’s Leadership Program (IVLP).

It is  as a youth-friendly Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) devoted to promoting awareness against use of drugs and banned substances, which is currently highly prevalent among young people.

WorldChicago, an NGO based in Chicago, Illinois is implementing the leadership program to promote leadership skills among young executives, business owners, academics and emerging.

The five-year initiative, designed as an annual exchange program in the US, will commence next year.

Irakpo called on ‘youths to learn the principles of leadership and to build their capacity to help fix Nigeria with the rare opportunity,  from this exchange programme.’

 ‘All participants are encouraged to exhibit integrity, professionalism and passion for nation building  in order to qualify  for this exchange program come 2021.’
