African Games: Taekwondo team set to depart Nigeria for Ghana.
The Nigeria Taekwondo Federation contingents is set to depart Nigeria for Ghana for the African Games taking place in Ghana.
The 18-man delegation led by the President of the Federation Ahl. Abubakar Saidu-Baba will storm Accra Ghana to keep the flag of Nigeria flying when the team begins their quest on the mat in coming days.
Speaking exclusively to the NTF Media team, President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation Abdullahi Saidu-Baba believes that the final blend of selected athletes will do Nigeria proud.
“As far as I am concerned, from my assessment of the team, the athletes are in high-spirit and determined and hungry to arrive Ghana and do Nigeria Proud”
“Our slogan for the team is Go for the Gold; you know it’s a battlefield and everyone will be competing for the gold and I can vouch for my team that we will get many Golds to show the world that Nigeria Taekwondo is on top.
“We are not just participating in Kyorugi but we are also participating in Poomsae and team Kyorugi so I want Nigeria to keep supporting us and we will make them proud at the Africa Games”.
The Team Head Coach, John Victor shared the words with the President and believed that with all the efforts they have put in during the training sessions, Nigeria can be assured of Taekwondo winning many Gold Medals.
“We are hopeful, it doesn’t go bad in Taekwondo we have a name to protect because we have been doing well in the past African Games. It`s not going to be easy but our target is to win as many Gold medals as possible.
“Personally, we should not take it away from other countries because they’re also coming to battle for medals but I can assure you that Nigeria will do well in Ghana”.
