Osimhen: After the storm comes a calm

By IKENWA NNABUOGOR

Victor Osihmen has signed for Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan from Napoli to quieten the tempestuous transfer storm that almost sank the ship of his career at Italian club SSC Napoli.

Osihmen had endured the violent tempest of a transfer that almost momentarily swept his career through before the Turkish giants opened a new vista for a brand new challenge.

Last minute was the dateline for this switch to happen while Osihmen remained resolute his career would be back on track in no distant time.

With just a few days to shutting of the Turkish transfer windows, Galatasaray came with the garlands as well as the cash to prise away the embattled superstar striker from the troubled zone in Northern Italy.

With a reduced asking price, an loan agreement and a clause deadening all known monsters making way for a very easy exit from the 2022/23 Seria A champions, Osihmen is set to walk from Napoli in January.

From Napoli to Istanbul with a promise is the latest movie in the Box Office for the fiery striker as hundreds of Gala fans welcomed him on arrival with assuring smiles that the beautiful city will be filled with goals.

Osihmen got his groove back eventually and you don’t ask how just like “Stella’s” and smart money is his to prove his troubles at Napoli were not worth it.

Napoli were too petty to kill the goose that laid the golden eggs as they seemed to enjoy the media frenzy that greeted the transfer hullabaloo as the life of their most prized jewel suffered.

Kismet brought Osihmen to Gala as the Turkish multiple champions showed up at the last minute to dateline a brand new vista into the bruised striker’s career.

Osihmen’s made of sterner steel, leonine, bullish, tough, he appears to strive better in a storm just like he’s demonstrated before, the Turkish Super Lig will surely welcome a bomber.

Napoli hardened the hearts of prospective suitors and created a false fortress around Osihmen to scare away suitors with money bags, but brave Galatasaray threw themselves in to save the young man from Napoli’s noose with a fresh start.

Negotiations were without a glitch, sharp contrast to the previous ones that locked in controversies and disagreements over fees and with just a few hours, Osihmen was on the plane to Istanbul to breathe his career and the much needed fresh life it needed.

Perennial champions and title contenders they have always been Galatasaray, Osihmen is in safe hands to pay back his rescuers back with a great season, perhaps with the league diadem and the top scorer’s award?

Those smiles mean the world for the embattled striker as he bantered with the appreciative Gala fans who had thronged the airport to catch a glimpse of their newest star and it will remain to be seen how he would respond.

As a concerned die-hard fan of his would write, “from selling gala in the Lagos traffic to wearing the colours of the big Turkish club Gala” the Destiny Child will only have one mission: shame Napoli with the goals and move on.

Welcome, Gala, erstwhile gala boy!
