Akwa Ibom FA Chairman Hails NNL Over Smooth Promotion Playoffs, Expects Exciting Final

The Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, Mr. Samuel Umoh, has praised the Nigeria National League (NNL) for successfully organising the 2024/2025 NNL Super 8 promotion playoffs.
Speaking from Asaba, Delta State, where the tournament is taking place, Mr. Umoh described the playoffs as a “smooth ride,” highlighting how four teams have now secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
“The NNL Super 8 has been well organised. It’s been a smooth ride so far, and we’re happy to see four deserving teams move up to the NPFL,” Umoh said.
The four promoted clubs are Wikki Tourists FC, Barau FC, Warri Wolves, and Kun Khalifat FC. The final day of the promotion round was lively and colourful, with fans treated to exciting football and high-stakes drama.
Mr. Umoh, who joined other football stakeholders in Asaba for the tournament, also expressed optimism ahead of the grand finale between Warri Wolves and Wikki Tourists, which will determine the overall NNL champion.
“It’s been a fantastic playoffs, and we now look forward to a smooth, exciting final match. Warri Wolves and Wikki Tourists have shown real quality, and we expect a good game to round it all off,” he added.
In a further comment, the FA chairman said the competitiveness of the tournament reflected the strength and progress of the league.
“For all eight teams to still have a chance of qualification even up to the last round of matches is a clear sign of the quality that has been added to the league. It shows the hard work and dedication the league managers have put in, and I congratulate them for that — but also urge them to keep going and do even more,” he noted.
“I witnessed the first match of the season, and now I’m here again to witness the end — and I must say, it’s commendable. The progress is obvious.”
The final match will crown the 2024/2025 NNL Super 8 champion, bringing the competition to a close and officially welcoming the four promoted sides into the top tier of Nigerian football.
