Anambra FA: All eyes now on Obiano

It appears the battle for who controls Anambra football would now be decided at Government House Awka, where the two contenders, Chikelue Iloenyosi and Chukwuemeka Okeke have taken their battle to.
A competent source disclosed to newstap.com.ng that the NFF has opted to adopt what he called “sit down dey look” approach to the election after the annulment of the initial virtual election that returned Ifeanyi Ubah.
“With Ifeanyi Ubah out of it, the NFF appears to have left Iloenyosi and Okeke to sort themselves out. And given the way the election has gone, the battle has now shifted to the Government House, Awka where a whole lot of scheming is going on. Everything now points to whoever the governor favors emerging the FA chairman,” our source said.
He further disclosed that the governor who has of late taken special interest in football had all along said he is not interested in “installing” anybody as the FA chairman as he wanted football stakeholders to decide who runs the show.
“But given the way things are now, the governor would have no option but to step in so that his desire to turn football around in the state would not be messed up by the dirty politics that has engulfed the FA,” our source stated.
Meanwhile, the Appeals Committee which met this week failed to take any decision on the appeals filed by both Iloenyosi and Okeke after the October 30 election. The committee which is said to be under “the mother of all pressures” adjourned till Monday next week.
