Boost for Nigerian Coaches as Baseball and Softball Course Ends In Rivers With Promise

The Secretary-General of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Federation, Mr. Robert Onwukwe, has hinted that Nigerian coaches have received a major boost following a recently concluded training in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Onwukwe, who spoke with our correspondent in Rivers State, also appreciated the Rivers State Government for their support towards the 5-Day Intensive Capacity Development Course for Nigerian Coaches, which took place at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt, from September 12 to 16.

“We thank the Rivers State Government for strengthening our partnership with Global Sport Partners to make the event a success,” a delighted Onwukwe said. “The course is a major boost for our coaches, as it afforded them the opportunity to be refreshed technically and prepare for future programs. I’m sure they really benefited from the program.”

“We hope to see more of such programs take place in the country, and we look forward to creating room for partnerships with other state governments to make the game of baseball and softball known to the youth,” he concluded.

About 30 Nigerian coaches took part in the coaching course, which was facilitated by four foreign coaches who came to instill advanced technical development on the game of baseball and softball in line with best global practices.
The four foreign coaches were Coach Ryan Nance (USA), Coach Justin Rhodes (USA), Coach Maichael ‘Bo’ Gabin (USA), and Coach Edel Heredia (Spain).
