Boxing promoter drags NBB of C to Court
The Nigeria Boxing Board Of Control NBB of C is now in a race against time as a suit have been filed before the Federal High Court In Lagos by a boxing promoter, Mr.Daniel Afolabi challenging the legitimacy of its operations in Nigeria.
The Suit filed against the board of the NBB of C with Dr. Rafiu Ladipo as President, Remi Aboderin,Secretary, and Chike llukwe as Ring Director, also have as defendants, Tajudeen Sule and the Nigeria Boxing Federation. Others are the National Sports Commission, the Federal Ministry Of Sports Development, the Honourable Minister of Sports as well as the Corperate Affairs Commission.
The Plaintiff Mr. Daniel Afolabi a business man and boxing promoter is asking the court to halt the operations of the NBB of C because it has been operating on falsehood and was not duely registered with the Corperate Affairs Commission since inception. Afolabi’s claims from the Defendants are follows.
1. A declaration by the honorable court that the use of the name Nigeria Boxing Board Of Control NBB of C to extort and mislead persons and bodies in Nigeria is illegal and fraudulent.
2. An Order of the court directing the NBB of C to produce their certificate of incorporation issued to them by the Corperate Affairs Commission.
3. An Order of the Court directing the Nigeria Boxing Federation and the Federal Ministry Of Sports to stop delegating their statutory powers to NBB of C for profit.
4. An Order of the Court directing the NBB of C to publish a disclaimer in five daily newspapers, five Radio Stations and three television stations in the country and one international news media that they are not the regulatory body for professional boxing in Nigeria.
5. An order of the Court directing the Corperate Affairs Commission to produce the Certificate of Incorporation of the NBB of C.
6. An Order of the honorable court awarding the sum of (10,000,000) naira to the Plaintiff Mr. Daniel Afolabi, for the stress and trauma he has gone through in registering his boxers with BOXREC.
All Ten defendants are to appear at the Federal High Court In Lagos according to the brief.
