Edo State Sports Director, Sabina Chikere, heaps praises on President Tinubu, Governor Okpebholo as Nigeria clocks 65
..Says Sports in Nigeria, Edo State on the right track
The Executive Director, Sports Development and Operations, Edo State Sports Commission, Mrs. Sabina Chikere has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his effort to transforming sports in the country and take it to a higher pedestal with the creation of the National Sports Commission, (NSC), under the leadership of Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General, Honourable Bukola Olopade.
She gave this heart warming commendations on Wednesday while speaking with our correspondent on independence celebration.
The top Edo State sports official, emphasized that the growth in Nigeria’s sporting could not have been possible without the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of the President, adding that the leadership of Mallam Shehu Dikko and the Director General of the NSC, Honourable Chief Bukola Olopade has helped in accelerating the process.
Mrs. Chikere also commended President Tinubu, on the appointment of a technocrat
Comrade Philip Shaibu, as the Director General of the National Institute For Sports, (NIS), Lagos.
“The appointment of the former Deputy Governor of Edo Stats, Comrade Philip Shaibu as the Director General of the National Institute For Sports (NIS), is another master stroke by Mr. President. As you know, the NIS is embarking on training the trainers who in turn will train our future world champions.”
The Edo State Executive Sports Director, strongly believes that this move by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the drive by the NIS Director General will help the sports economy of Nigeria to blossom.
She further explained that the reward system put together by President Tinubu for outstanding athletes who bring laurels to the country has been a major boost for Nigeria athletes just as she called on the President to intensify his efforts to take sports to greater heights.
Mrs. Chikere was also full of praise for the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his unfaltering and unending support towards development in the state.
She stressed that since his assumption of office the Edo State Sports Commission under the watchful eyes of Honourable Amadin Enabulele, has never lacked, in all ramifications.
She went on to highlight the strong bond in the State’s sports commission, stating that it is the reason behind the successful organization of sports in the state.
Sabina Chikere listed some key sporting development achieved under the stewardship of His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, which includes; setting up of the sports association board, funding of the National Sports Festival and National Youth Games and plans to establish a mini stadium in all 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
