Eke, Hails NNL board, says Referee of the month award, a good motivation
NNL referee with the Imo State Referees Council, Henry Eke has hailed the board of the Nigeria National League for the monthly NNL/ Prostar Award, describing it as a good motivation for coaches, players and referees.
Eke who was voted as the best referee for the month of January, said that the award will enable referees put in their best inorder to make the most important league more attractive.
“I’m highly excited emerging as the best referee for the month of January which is an indication that organizers of the league appreciate what I was doing and this will motivate me and my colleagues to put in our bests in seeing that matches are well officiated.
” It’s equally important that I commend the league board led by Mr. George Aluo for the various transformations they’ve brought to the most important league in the country.
“Their introduction of locker room bonus with Betpawa has really taken the league to another level and the inclusion of referees in the monthly award deserves commendation because it’s a good motivation for the match officials”, he stated.
Other referees that got rewarded were, Zaharaddeen Nasiru of the Katsina Referee Council who was named best referee for December and Mudashir Shehu of the Kaduna Referees Council who emerged winner for February.
In the other award categories, Ajibola Joel of Stormers Sports Club claimed the highest goal scorer award for December, Tony Ayanga of Rovers FC emerged winner for January, while Innocent Idu of City FC secured the February honour.
For the Best Goalkeeper category, Emmanuel Daniel of Ranchers Bees won in December, Aloysius Thankgod of Akwa United was recognized in January, and Alo Chukwu Pascal of Abakaliki FC took the award for February.
Head Coach of Akwa United, Paul Offor’s dominance in the coaching category saw him sweep all three months under review, underlining his consistency and impact.
Kada Warriors were named Best Behaved Team for December, Rovers FC earned the January recognition, while Lobi Stars claimed the February award.
In the Most Valuable Player category, Yaro Zakari of Yobe Desert Warriors emerged winner for December, Victor Samuel of Sporting Lagos was honoured in January, and Obisesan Sodiq of Osun United won for February.
The Goal of the Month awards went to Daniel Gothom of Akwa United (December), Babarinde Taofeek of Gateway FC (January), and Jafar Ojo of Smart City FC (February).
