Fed Govt Files Criminal Charge Against Ozekhome
The Federal Government has filed a three-count charge against Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) over alleged forgery and use of false documents in a disputed property case in the United Kingdom.
The charge, marked FCT/HC/CR/010/2026, was filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on January 16 by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN).
Ozekhome is charged and accused of knowingly presenting forged documents, including a Nigerian international passport, to support his claim of ownership of a property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX, during proceedings before the London First-Tier Tribunal.
It would be recalled that a London First-tier Tribunal in September 2025 found that documents Ozekhome presented to claim the London house, which he stated was a gift, were fabricated and that the property belonged to the late Gen. Jeremiah Useni.
The ICPC probe was initiated after a petition from the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA) concerning the fraudulent procurement of documents.
In October 2025, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) criticized the initial investigation by the Attorney-General of the Federation, calling it a “witch-hunt”.
The case is currently awaiting assignment to a judge, and no trial date has been fixed.
