Five Years After, Artiste Rues Tragic Loss of Daughter
Sixty-seven-year-old Ogun State Apala artiste, Adigun ‘Jallo’ Akande, is inconsolable. Amid hot tears and painful silence, he narrated how his daughter’s life was cut short at thirty-five over a money ritual related case and domestic violence in her marriage.
The popular musician in Awori axis of Ogun State disclosed this while organizing prayers in remembrance of her daughter, Ganiyat Mustapha, a mother of two who died in a suspicious manner six years ago.
“I used to feel very empty anytime I remember the circumstances surrounding the death of my daughter. She was supposed to clock 40 years today, and that’s why I can’t forgive her husband, who was alleged to have hands in her death,” he lamented.
He swore only justice would assuage the hurt of losing his daughter, Her husband, Akeem Olawale Mustapha is facing charges after trying to inflict the same thing on his second wife, Hasanat Taiwo Giwa, whom we gathered has also ran away for her life.
Jallo, as the musician is popularly called, noted that he never suspected any maltreatment of her daughter by her husband for the first few years, as Ganiyat lived with her husband before the unfortunate incident that led to her death happened.
He does, however, take solace in the fact that the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) is pressing charges against Akeem Olawale Mustapha, and hopefully justice can be served.
