Umuahia bubbles as Diamond Soccer Academy President, Apugo buries mother

The Abia state capital city of Umuahia is playing host to several visitors this weekend as the President of Diamond Academy, Umuahia, Hon Ikechukwu Martin Apugo buries his mother Lolo Dorathy Nkechinyere Apugo.

The burial which is attracting an avalanche of football personalities comes up Saturday November 14 at their Ibeku, Umuahia country home.

Lolo Dorathy aged 75 was a thorough bred educationist who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity.

Former Secretary General of the nation’s soccer governing body Ambassador Fanny Amun who is already in Umuahia to be part of the burial ceremony told newstap.com.ng that Hon Ikechukwu Martin Apugo has done well for Nigerian football and deserves to be honored as he buries his beloved mother.

“Martin Apugo is one of those who is passionate about the development of Nigerian football. His Academy is one of the best in the country and a confirmation of that is the quality of players the academy has produced. At a time like this, I feel it is proper to stand by him and support him,” Amun said.

It would be noted that the Super Eagles duo of Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali are products of the Diamond Academy.
