Gateway Games 2024 :Plateau State targets gold in volleyball

After watching her team record a hard fought 3-2 victory over Bayelsa in the volleyball event of the ongoing National Sports Festival, Coach of Plateau Volleyball the, Lynda Ashoms said that her team is ready to go all out and win gold at the country’s version of the Olympics.

Plateau Rocks who were still in celebration mood after defeating Delta 3-0 in their first game, fought a game of their lives Friday at the Alake Sports Centre to record a 3-2 victory of 20-25, 25-23, 22-25, 16-22 and 25-17 to book a place in the quarter- finals and Ashoms believes that her team having survived the Bayelsa scare will go all out to win the ultimate medal.

” I’ m highly excited that we came out victorious because the game was very tough but having booked a place in the quarter- finals, we are hoping to win all our remaining games and go home with the gold medal.

The highly experienced tactician noted that she has the calibre of players to deliver the gold because some of her players are national team players

Meanwhile in the other matches played on Friday, Ogun defeated Oyo, 3-0 while in the women beach volleyball, Adamawa defeated Rivers 2-0.
