Ihueze emerges new Fed Poly Nekede alumni chairman, pledges to take body to greater heights
The Imo State branch of the Alumni Association of the prestigious federal polytechnic Nekede Owerri held her 2024 annual general meeting today Sunday 15th December, 2024 at the famous Paschaline hotel Egbu road Owerri.
Inline with the provisions of her bye law and following a motion moved and unanimously supported at her last general meeting at Mavis suite hotel works layout Owerri on December 1st, 2024, a five man electoral committee led by Comr. Surv. Ezeka Shedrack as chairman, Comr. Steven Happiness as secretary and Comr. Urakpa Nkeiruka, comr. Esv. Ezirim promise, and Comr. Isreal U. Onuoha as members was constituted to conduct her election at her AGM cum end of the year party. As earlier scheduled and by a motion moved and seconded by Comr. Nnadi Emeka C and Chief. Ubochi Emmanuel C, the outgone executive was desolved, after which an election was conducted where the following persons viz; Comr. Odiwomma Godspower Ihueze, chairman, Comr. Metu Henry, vice chairman, Comr. Tpl. Iwuji Chinedu secretary general, Comr. Tpl. (Mrs). Mercy Akpaka Kalu, Director of welfare, Comr. Harrison U. Enete, Financial secretary, Comr. Odoemenam Emmanuel Treasurer, Comr. Ekwebelam Precious, Provost, and Comr. Ofoeze Uzochukwu Eco, Director of Social/public relations officer, were returned elected and subsequently inaugurated for a two years term.
In his acceptance speech, the chairman, Comr. Odiwomma Godspower Ihueze; an accomplished banker, farmer and entrepreneur, and a 2003 graduate of secretarial administration department, now department of office technology management (O.T.M), and also who happened to be the immediate past secretary general of the branch, thanked the members for the confidence in electing the new executive members. While, pledging commitment, loyalty and diligence in the discharge of their duties, he promised to protect the provisions of the bye law especially with respect to the welfare of their members, creating a good link to the national body, respecting the critical stakeholders and leaders. The chairman appealed to the members to always advise them and to also criticize constructively where necessary. He also appealed to those who lost the election to accept it in the spirit of sportsmanship and encouraged them to still help those elected to succeed in taking the association to a greater height.
After advising the new executive, the national leader of the association who is also the pioneer chairman of Imo State branch Rt. Hon. Chief (Dr). Uchenna Oliver Enete; and who has earlier supported the 2024 end of the year party with the sum of one hundred thousand naira (100,000), announced a take off grant of one hundred thousand naira (#100,000) for the new executive. And thereafter, the end of the year party held, as the planning committee chairman, Rt. Hon. Engr. Solution Uche Nwaosu and his team made sure that everybody in attendance ate and drank to full and made merry.
