Imo Community plans security summit

Worried by the activities of criminals, especially in committing social vices in most rural communities of Imo State, the Eastern Heartland of Nigeria and the need to address it headlong, Umunneato Ishi Ogwa autonomous community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State has advanced plans to conduct security summit as a strategic means of sensitizing and curbing insecurities in their area and its environ.
The one day a historical summit which is the first of its kind since the creation of the reverred autonomous community over 20 years ago, is detailed to hold on Easter Monday April 1st , 2024 by noon at Idem Ukwu Civic Centre Hall, Orie Idem Market Square.
The evergreen event will be chaired by a distinguished son of the autonomous community, an international business icon and an Industrialist of repute, Chief David Onwukwe, ( Udu Miri of Ogwa) and the President, Udumiri Industries Nigeria Limited, even as he has been philanthropically committed in youths empowerment through job creations.
To ensure that the summit which theme is ; Come Let Us Strategize On How To Secure Our Environment achieved its thematic objectives, the planning committee being piloted by Chief Rufus Osueke (Ohamadike), an astute politician and a community Leader with Engr. Chuks Iwuala as Secretary, have sourced czars in security matters like ASP Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO).
Other top brass security authorities that have been choosen as resource persons are Major General Sunday Chikwe, (Rtd) and Prof. Evans Ewurum, retired Deputy National Commandant General of Nigeria Security And Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC.
Meanwhile, Prof. Hillary Ekemam, the President General of the autonomous community has made passionate appeal that security is everybody’s concern and in view of that, he has asked all and sundry to attend the interactive event so as to make input(s) that would be in the overall interest of the community, the State and the nation at large.
