Imo PCRC seeks support for campaign against cultism, drug abuse

The Police Public Relations Committee, PCRC, Imo State Chapter has called on the state government and other security stakeholders to provide logistics support to its campaign against cultism, drug abuse and other criminal activities in the state.

Chairman of Imo PCRC, Chima Chukwunyere made the call Sunday during a courtesy/solidarity visit to the group’s grand patron, Prince Charles Amadi a.k.a CHARVON at his Owerri residence.

Chukwunyere who eloquently applauded Chief Amadi for his huge investment in the construction of the male Police transit camp at the Headquarters of the Imo Police Command, Owerri which was recently handed over to the commands management.

He also thanked the grand patron for graciously procuring and delivering no fewer than 35 mattresses to furnish the completed new transit camp as well as other countless contributions.

Describing PCRC as the ‘closest ally of the Police in fighting crimes and criminality as well as the group’s duty to ensure cordial relationship between Imolites and the Police, the chairman hinted that the Imo chapter has devoted ample time and resources in campaigning against crimes across the state.

He appealed to Prince Amadi to use his friendly relationship with Governor Hope Uzodimma to redeem his pledge of a bus and other logistics to support the PCRC in the state.

Recounting the anti-crime activities/programmes of Imo PCRC, Chukwunyere recalled that the Imo state chapter, in 2016, received the ‘Gold Star Award’ from the national body as ‘the best chapter in the country’  because “we operate rigidly in line with the vision. 

“We are the only State involved in school campaign against crime, criminality and cultism, and we have covered 67 schools  including Ngwa high school in Aba, Abia State and some communities with my private car, which is now in a mess. 

“Our Ambulance services, helped many accident victims and pregnant women but the van donated by our Patron, Chief Zanders Kennedy has parked up.
Our PCRC hour in Zanders FM radio station, Owerri every Saturday, courtesy of our Patron Chief Zanders Kennedy is second to none, and is till the end of this age. In the last 10 years, I have covered 28,800 minutes or 480 hours .

“Sir, we have a compassionate appeal. His excellence, senator Hope Uzodinma, promise, of a bus to support our campaign as our Patron has not been fulfilled. We plead that, you use your good offices n relationship with the government and convince his Excellence to fulfil his promise.

“We thank you for your financial support for the transit camp and would also like to inform you, that we borrowed some money which helped us to complete the project, and would like to repay it in no distance time.”

Welcoming the delegation, Prince Amadi commended the leadership of Imo PCRC saying the chairman has been most diligent and exemplary in carrying out his duties and enjoined him not to relent.

The grand patron who harped on the need for increased Police/Public cordial relationship urged body to always look inwards to address grey areas in conduct of Policemen with a view to enhancing professionalism in crime detection, prevention and control.

He assured his continued support to Imo PCRC in all ramifications possible and promised to convey their request to Governor Uzodimma as well as other stakeholders in the state.
