PDP Condemns List of Ambassadorial Nominees
..Describes it as scandalous and reflective of Presidential Values
The Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has strongly condemned the list of Ambassadorial nominees submitted by the President to the Senate for confirmation.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Emeniobong, the party alleged that the list contains the names of many people whom they described as disgraced propagandists, characterless politicians and public officials who are widely perceived negatively by Nigerians and the global community for their integrity deficit and notable anti- democratic activities.
” We as a responsible party, want to equivocally condemn the list of Ambassadorial nominees because it contains names of some known disgraced propagandists and those who are anti-democratic.
The statement further noted that while most Nigerians are appalled by the inclusion of most of the nominees, they’re not totally surprised given the history and disposition of the present administration.
” By making these nominations, the President has shown Nigerians that these are the best people he has to represent our country in the countries where they’ll be posted.
” That it took the President almost three years to produce this list, speaks of the paucity of excellent people within his reach.
The party also in a strong word condemned the nomination of the immediate past INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu whom it says, his administration was characterized by countless double- speaks, flip- flops and undelivered promises.
” It was Prof. Mahmood’s undelivered promises which ultimately resulted in the birth of this administration which has been struggling in all areas of governance.
” To offer him an ambassadorial position, at a time like this, is an excellent example of a skewed reward system which we suspect is an incentive for the new INEC Chairman to deliver a flawed election in 2027, in expectation of a future reward and this is scandalous and unacceptable”, said the party.
The PDP demanded from the President to withdraw the list and nominate only credible individuals with stellar democratic credentials and moral standing capable of drawing global respect for the country at the global community
