IWD: Ikpea extols women’s impact in Nigeria’s sports development

As the world celebrates this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), the Nigerian Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has hailed the impact of women in sports development in Nigeria.
The club’s National Chairman, Rev. Samuel Ikpea, who praised the achievements of women in the sports sector on Tuesday in Lagos, said Nigerian women had demonstrated patriotism and resilience by supporting the course of the country.
“We join other members of the sporting community to thank and celebrate our women for their giant strides in nation building through supporting sports development.
“To mention a few, the likes of Dora Dadogobo, Amaka Okediadi, Mrs Elizabeth Mbuko, Mercy Osakwe, Ngozi Daniel, Chioma, Rita Aniefor, Rita Orherhe-Emekeme and host of others who played key roles in Nigeria Football Supporters Club successes.
“I call for more slots for women in sports; technically and administratively. I believe it’s time to have more female members in our sports development efforts,’’ Ikpea said.
He promised to ensure that women were given the necessary support to contribute more meaningfully to sports development in the country.
