Kadiri Ikhana discharged from hospital, set for cataract surgery
..As Jalla laments his neglect by sport administrators
Veteran Coach, Kadiri Ikhana was Monday night discharged from hospital where he has been recuperating for the past weeks.
According to a statement by Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria, Harrison Jalla, the coach is expected to return to hospital later today for cataract removal surgery and to be fitted with a hearing aid to improve his hearing impairment.
Jalla noted that Coach Ikhana is deeply grateful to God and to all Nigerians for their prayers, and to businessman Peter Omoh Dunia, whom God has used to cover his substantial medical expenses.
It would be recalled that Coach Ikhana was a fortnight ago moved from Irua Specialist Hospital in Edo State to another Specialist hospital in Abuja which was made possible by a philanthropist, Peter Omoh Dunia, a bosom friend of Harrison Jalla
Meanwhile, Harrison Jalla has lamented the neglect of Khadiri Ikhana by sport administrators; saying that they’ve not done anything to help the hospitalized coach.
Jalla noted that it’s quite unfortunate that all his efforts to see both the NFF and NSC leadership come to the aid of Ikhana proved abortive positing that if not for the God sent good Samaritan, the health condition of the coach would have deteriorated further.
” It’s unfortunate that we’re losing our ex-internations in quick succession. We’re still planning about the burial of Coach Chairman Christian Chukwu and that of Monday Sinclair and Peter Rufai occured thereby throwing the country’s football community into further mourning.
” When I heard about the health condition of Coach Ikhana, I put a call across to the Chairman of National Sports Commission and the President of the NFF, informing them about his condition.
” The NSC Chairman later called me to inquire about the hospital where he was admitted and I gave him the address at Irua, Edo State but as am talking to you nobody has deemed it fot to visit the coach and at least say sorry to him. And even when God intervened through a good Samaritan who moved him to one of the best hospitals in Abuja, they’ve not shown any interest in his case’, he lamented.
Jalla noted that there’s need for those handling the country’s sport sector to take the issue of serving and retired sports men and women serious as is done in other climes.
