Lagos NAPHER-SD task Physical Education teachers to be proactive
The need to have qualified instructors and games masters propelled the Lagos State chapter of the National Association for Physical Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD) to organise a 3-day seminar/workshop in Lagos.
The programme which was aimed at advancing the knowledge of Physical and Health Education teachers in Primary and Secondary schools in Lagos State was held at the National Institute forr Sports Gymnasium hall, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos in conjunction with the National Institute for Sports (NIS) management authority.
Chairman of the occasion, Prof. O. A Moronkola, the Director General of NIS, Keynote speaker, Prof. Abiodun Moronfolu, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission Hon Olalekan Fatodu and Dr. Sunday Odior, chairman of Lagos NAPHER-SD including resource persons shared valuable knowledge on diverse topics and encouraged Physical and Health Education teachers to move out from assumption to realities by integrating modern technology into teaching in order to bring out the best in student athletes.
Participants were also charged to up their antics in order to help students function properly in the modern world, adding that the games masters, mistresses and physical education teachers need to be proactive, creative and inovative.
Vice chairman of Lagos NAPHER-SD, Akin Afolarin, promised that the association will continue to organise regular workshops such as this to update the knowledge of the teachers and enhance their capabilities.
Meanwhile, the participants were also taken through the practical aspect of sports development and talent management on the field of play and knowledge of different games.
