Lagos agog for ‘Ring Matadors’ boxing extravaganza


Lovers of professional boxing in the country will on Friday, July, 19, 2024 treated to the best of professional boxing when the Lagos Boxing Initiative presents the ‘Ring Matadors’ boxing fight at the Old School Boxing Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Sanctioned by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), it will witness some of the best fighters in the country facing off themselves in what the Secretary General of of the NBB of C Remi Aboderin described as boxing at it’s best .

According to Aboderin who also doubles as the President of West African Boxing Union (WABU), the eight bouts national challenge contest promises to be full of fire works as the fighters were carefully selected and are prepared to give quality fights to fans just as he appealed to lovers of boxing to troop out in their hundreds to support the fighters as they face themselves in the ring.

” This is just another promotion which the NBB of C sanctioned to keep our boxers busy and ensure they garner points necessary for ranking by the various continental and world boxing bodies and we expect nothing but real fire works on Friday night.
” It will also interest you to know that we’re having another fight on Saturday at the Police College, Ikeja and yet another one on Sunday which is an indication that professional boxing is gradually regain lost grounds in the country”, he stressed.

Meanwhile boxers that will do battle in the ring are already talking tough ahead of the duel
Speaking on what to expect from him, West African Cruiserweight champion, Abubakar Faruq who will be facing off with former national champion, Afini Idris boasted that he’ll silence his opponent and make him regret ever facing him in the ring.
But in a quick response, Afimi declared that he’s not ready for much rhetorics as the ring will decided who’s the best boxer amongst them.

Also speaking, Suleiman Adeosun Olags and David Cosmas A.K.A Awosika who will be facing each other in a Super middleweight national challenge contest all promised to stop each other by knockout.
Cosmas who last fought in Ghana last year noted that he’ll use the fight to announce to his numerous fans that he’s much more around; warning his opponent to be prepared for an early stoppage.

In a related development, Super Lightweight fighters; Mufui Yusuf and Ajade Fatai all expressed confidence that they’ll outdo each other even as both boxers appealed to their fans to be at the fight venue on time in order not to miss any action.
