MASVI Cycling: Male, female winners to get equal prize money

There will be Naira rain at the second edition of the MASVI Invitational Cycling road race scheduled to hold at Owan West Local Government Area on Saturday, April 3, 2021 as the organisers have bridged the prize money for the male and female categories.

Chairman of the organising committee of the race, Frank Ilaboya told reporters in his office in Sabongida-Ora on Wednesday that the sponsor, Sunday Ajayi has bridged the gap between the male and female cyclists in terms of prize money.

“In line with the  Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) President G. Massari‘s position on gender equality in the distribution of prizes, the sponsor Mr Sunday Ajayi has said the winners of this year’s races in both the male and female categories will go home with N150,000 each”.

The Owan West Local Government chairman added that the second placed cyclists in both categories will get N120,000.00 each while the third positions will receive N100,000.00 each.

The former Edo state Football Association chairman said due to the magnanimity of the sponsor, the 4th to10th positions will also  be adequately rewarded.

The Technical Director of CFN Mohammed Bashir has commended the sponsor for the gesture, adding that the race will be flagged off at the Owan West local government secretariat in Sobongida-Ora and end at MASVI hotel/Filling station in Sobe along Benin -Akure road.

Coordinator of the race, Osaretin Emuze said the cyclists will be accommodated at Ilevbare hotel along Uzzeba- Sabongida road the same hotel  they stayed last year.
