NNL Chairman, Aluo congratulates Super Falcons for winning record 10th WAFCON title
Chairman of Nigeria National League ( NNL), Mr. George Aluo has congratulated the Super Falcons for winning a record 10 Women Africa Nations Cup title .
The Super Falcons Saturday recorded a dramatic come back in the highly explosive finals against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco to lift the trophy.
The resilient Super Falcons came from a 2-0 deficit at half-time, following goals from Morocco’s Ghizzlane Chebbak and Sanna Mssoudy to launch a spirited comeback in the second half. Esther Okoronkwo ignited the revival with a well-taken penalty in the 64th minute before setting up Folashade Ijamilusi for a tidy finish in the 71st minute.
The winning goal came in the 88th minute, when substitute Jennifer Echegini calmly converted a sublime freekick assist from Okoronkwo, sealing the Falcons’ place in history.
In his congratulatory message, Aluo praised the resilience of the team, noting that they have done the country proud and deserves commendation.
