MOWE stands still for Commonwealth Game Changer
Over a hundred students drawn from 12 Schools in Mowe, and it’s environs in Ogun State, featured at the Commonwealth Games Changer Leadership through Basketball initiative.held on Tuesday June 25 2025 at the Additional Sports and Entertainment Pro Limited Centre, Mowe, Ogun state.
Meant for ages 14 to 17 years, the leadership of the Commonwealth Nigeria under the auspices of Engr. Habu Gumel ably represented by Mr. Augustine Odijie,, said the initiative was aimed at equipping the participants with life changing skills that would aid them in actualizing their basketball dream in future.
The programme was made possible by the Commonwealth Foundation under the auspices of the Commonwealth Games Nigeria and held at the Additional Sports and Entertainment Pro Centre,Mowe, Ogun State owned by Dr. Oluwaseun Nariwoh, the CEO while Mr. Kingsley remains as chairman.
Meanwhile,the Commonwealth Sports Foundation is the organization responsible for the direction and control of Commonwealth Games and the Commonwealth Youth Games held every four years.
But rather than just be organizing only the Games every four years, the Game Changer programme was introduced as part of Community development programme such as this to make the Commonwealth busy all year round.
The vision is to use the
Commonwealth Games Foundation movement to build a peaceful, sustainable and prosperous communities globally by inspiring member nations which are basically made up of 73 countries and territories colonized by the British Empire of which Nigeria in one of them.
It important to note that this is the first time such a programme was held outside Lagos since the inception of the Commonwealth Game Changers programme of the Commonwealth Sports Foundation and is outside Lagos.
Participated schools include Graceland School, Fortune Land Academy, Redeemers High School, Advocate High School and Flying Colors International School among others.
