NDDC Targets Youths Empowerment And Sustainable Development
Efforts by the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) Dr. Samuel Ogbuku in Youths and human Capital development is beginning to yield more benefits to residents and people of the Oil rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
In the past few months, the NDDC has sponsored more youths and human capital development across the region, staged in the different states that makes up the NDDC catchment areas.
The Management of the Niger Delta development Commission says it will continue to support the ideals of her founding fathers in ensuring sustainable development of the region.
Speaking during the Just concluded All secondary school old School tournament held at the Sharks stadium in Port Harcourt, the Managing Director of the NDDC Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who commended the participating schools for their show of Sportsman said there was no victor and no vanquish in the championship
Represented by the Director of Sports, Youths , Culture and women Affairs, Barrister Olaniyi Salami, Dr. Ogbuku thanked the participating teams,and commended them for their understanding of the essence of the commission, the initiative, which he said is aimed at developing capacity and potentials of the Niger Delta women and youths.
The NDDC Boss further thanked guests for their large turnout and emphasised that this year’s edition of the competition new was indeed splendid, stressing that the main essence of the competition has been archived.
Highlights of this year’s one day football /sports fiesta which includes includes , football, Tug of War, relay races, 4×100 meters relay race , sack race amongst which the ladies participated.
It would be recalled that the Niger Delta states are presently preparing her different athletes and contingents for the second edition of the Niger Delta Sports Fiesta to be held in Delta State.
The last edition took place in Akwa Ibom State with Bayelsa State emerging the overall winners
