Edo state deputy governor, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu has tasked the board of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to remain focused and take the game to the next level.
The sports loving deputy governor spoke while declaring open the Elective Congress of the basketball governing body at the Royal Marble Hotel in Benin.
Shaibu who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant, Mrs Sabina Chikere assured that Edo state government would continue to pay special attention to sports, even as he noted that Edo is the home of sports.
The deputy governor stressed that the peaceful nature of Edo makes sports to thrive.
“Our state is a peaceful state and we welcome all the basketball stakeholders that are here for the elective Congress. Edo is the home of sports and the number one state in sports,” Shaibu stated.
The NBBF president, Musa Kida had in his welcome address thanked Edo state for accepting to host the elective congress.
