A fresh winner will be produced at the 4th edition of the Janet Adowei Scrabble Classics which begins this Saturday in Lagos.
JAMSC, a special tournament created by Engr. Ebikeme Adowei to honour his mother has been growing in leaps and bounds in organisation and prizes.
It has helped in pulling up players across the country who have budding interest in the mindgame as well as giving them opportunities to share boards with more experienced and established wordsmiths.
Meanwhile, the winner of the 2022 edition George Ezinore will not be available to defend his title as he was among players invited by the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) to the ongoing 2nd West Africa Scrabble Championship.
His invitation by the national body to the international tournament was bolstered by his performance at the JAMSC and this has subsequently created an opportunity for a new champion to emerge.
His absence will inspire many to crave for the title and much improved 500, 000 naira top prize-money on offer.
Over 70 players will generate some buzz as they play for rating points and prizes at the two-day competition.
Olumide Oyejide won the inaugural edition while Olatunde Oduwole claimed the second edition title.
