Nigerian U-16 basketball team invited to Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic preparatory Games

In a significant step toward the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2026, Nigeria’s Under-16 female basketball team has received an official invitation to participate in a preparatory tournament in Dakar.
According to the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) the invitation comes from the Local Organizing Committee of the Youth Olympic Games.
A statement by Tony Nezianya, the Public Relations Officer of NOC explained that the tournament will provide invaluable experience and exposure to the young athletes, equipping them with insights into the standards and expectations they will face during the Games.
The statement noted that NOC will cover all expenses related to the tournament, ensuring that the country’s talented athletes can focus on their preparation.
The event, aptly titled the “Festival of Games,” is scheduled for November 6th to 10th, 2026, in Dakar and the NOC extend their wishes to the U-16 basketball team as they embark on the exciting journey.
“We are confident that their participation in this tournament will bolster their skills and inspire them to shine at the Youth Olympic Games”, noted the NOC
