Nigeria Falls Narrowly to Angola at Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship

Nigeria’s U-18 Women’s Handball team suffered a narrow 23–20 defeat to Angola in their third group match at the ongoing Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship in Oran, Algeria.
The young Nigerians, who went into the encounter determined to bounce back after losing to Tunisia and drawing with Benin Republic , trailed 11–8 at halftime as the Angolan side proved difficult to break down with their strong defensive setup and clinical finishing.
Despite the deficit, Coach John Uzor’s girls rallied in the second half, showing improved confidence and resilience. They pressed hard to reduce the gap and matched Angola goal for goal in the latter stages of the contest.
However, their comeback efforts fell just short with unnecessary turnovers as Angola held firm to secure the 23–20 victory.
The loss leaves Nigeria in a precarious position to qualify for the knockout stage of the championship.
