African Games: De Lads boss commends Team Nigerian Boxers

The MD/CEO of De Lads Boxing Promotions, Alhaji Waheed Wasiu Alabi has commended ‘Team Nigerian’ boxers for their brilliant outing at the just ended 13th African Games in Ghana.
It would be recalled that Nigeria won 8 gold and 2 silver in boxing event at the Games where the nation placed second behind Egypt.
He said it’s a commendable feet that has come through hard work and dedication.
Alhaji Alabi particularly thanked two female boxer under De Lads Promotions, Adeshina Zainab who fought in the ( 50 kg) and Shikurat Kareem ( 54kg) class for winning silver medals.
” We’re proud of our two promising boxers and we shall continue to encourage them to do more.
“It’s our belief that with more training and motivation, these boxers will do more for Nigeria”, said De Lads boss who appealed to the Sports Development Minister to always ensure regular preparation and support for athletes.
He said right from when both boxers joined his camp, he knew that with time they will be among world beaters and so there’s no doubt about my commitment to help them.
According to him, the Sports Ministry should look out for more windows for Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers so that these boxers will join the three that have already qualified for the greatest sporting event in the world
He also predicted that Nigeria will do well in sports under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is blessed with a Sports Development Minister that is relentless in mobilizing athletes towards good results.
He said it’s the target of De Lads Promotions to do more for Nigerian boxing and that’s why he’s unperturbed by the millions he is spending in the game because it is a genuine cause.
“We’re encouraged by the fact that there’s huge turn out of fans in our promotions which would be more regular very soon.
” Ten out of the country’s eleven boxers winning medals at African Games is an indication that Nigerian boxing has come of age and we’ll continue to contribute our quota towards the further development of the pugilist game.
