...Assures kinsmen of support

Politicians of Ikwuano/ Unuahia extraction in Abia state have been told to step forward and contest for the governorship position in the 2023 general elections.

This charge was made early this week at a meeting held in Umuahia by political stakeholders from the area under the aegis of Ikwuano/ Umuahia Forum.

The Forum while charging her kinsmen to give the position a shot, passed a vote of confidence on the state’s incumbent Chief Executive, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

The communique issued after the meeting stated in part…”That the good people of Ikwuano/Umuahia of Abia Central senatorial zone will contest for the governorship of Abia state, come 2023. That our sons and daughters who want to contest are free to enter the race and will receive maximum support of our people…. the forum Passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of Abia State,  Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for the renewed efforts in infrastructure and legacy projects  across the state.”

The group apparently aware of the direction they are going said politicians from the area should not contest for the Senate (Abia Central) resolving to back anybody from the Ngwa extraction in the spirit of equity and fairness.

“That on the issue of Abia Central senatorial seat, it was resolved that it is the turn of Ngwa extraction (Umunne ato) to run and should be seen as such. Our sons and daughters are therfore not encouraged to run for Senate now,” the communique stated even as the Forum urged the people to remain steadfast in their support for PDP ahead of the 2023 polls.
