NNL Super 8: Osun Utd Chairman, Hails Team’s Resilience , hopeful on NPFL qualification
Chairman of Osun United, Gbenga Ololade Oriowo has commended his team for recording a 1-1 draw in their South/ West derby against. Crown FC in Match Day 2 of the ongoing NNL Super 8 currently going on at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
Osun United where at the verge of defeat in the tension soaked encounter before they salvaged a draw in the last few seconds of the tension soaked encounter through a penalty kick that ended the game 1-1.
Speaking on the result a highly elated Oriowo noted that he was happy that his players rose to the occasion even with one man down just as he expressed confidence that with the Southern Conference Group open, his team will win their last match on Thursday and gain promotion to the elite league
” As you can see, our group is now open. Presently we’re on top of the table with four points having defeated Warri Wolves in.our first game while wolves and Kun Khalifat are on three points each with the former occupying the second position with superior goal aggregate. So the deciding match will be on Thursday and we hope to pick one of the tickets”, he stated with confidence.
Oriowo who started Prime Football Club in 2003 and guided it from Amateur League 1, 2 and 3 to gain promotion to the Premier League before it was transformed to Osun Utd commended. Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke for his support to the team, promising him that they’ll not disappoint.
” I started Prime FC in 2003 which was then owned by Oshogbo Local Government, I took it from amateur league to.professiobal league and gained promotion to the Premiership. So, I have been there and I understand the politics of the game.
” Kudos must also go to our sports loving governor for all his support and I want to assure him that we’ll not disappoint”, he stated confidently.
